2012 Nike Free 3.0 V4

2012 Nike Free 3.0 V4 is one of the 3 “minimalist” running shoes in the 2012 Nike Free Collection. Since my positive experience with the Nike Free 4.0 V2 a few months ago, I have been eagerly anticipating the release of the 3.0 V4.
    Stretchy mesh inner-sleeve to provide a sock-like snug fit.
    Seamless upper construction to reduce weight and irritation, while maintaining structural support.
    Asymmetrical lacing to even pressure distribution over the top of the foot.
    Reflective elements to increase visibility.
    Low-profile, Phylite midsole that doubles as an outsole to offer a cushioned ride while reducing weight.
    Sipes (the grid-like groves or cuts) along the length and width of the midsole to enhance flexibility.
There is no adjustable tongue on the 3.0 V4. Because of this, the asymmetrical lacing eyelets are independently protruding on top of the upper. The soft, plush ankle collar appears to have a steeper curvature (it extends towards the bottom more) than that of the 4.0 V4′s. With a very slight arch support and the lack of a heel cup, this shoe is more or less a padded sock or booty with a sole and a glued-on sockliner.

Upper

    Nanoply is a seamless, ultra-thin upper material, that helps to support the foot in specific areas while allowing breathable stretch in other areas.
    Overlays are strategically placed for increased flexibility and comfort for use without socks.
    Bootie Tongue construction combines the tongue and upper into one seam-free piece for next-to-skin comfort.
    Molded sockliner mimics the curvature of the foot for a closer fit and underfoot cushioning.
    Strobel Last with the upper stitched to full length fabric for a comfortable underfoot feel.

Outsole

    BRS 1000 carbon rubber is located along the heel for durability.
